Shambhavi MADAN

BIOGRAPHY:

Shambhavi Madan is a researcher working at intersections of citizenship, urban dispossession and Hindutva statecraft. She is currently a Research Assistant at CSH Delhi under the supervision of Dr Christophe Z. Guilmoto. Drawing from ethnographic and archival methods, her past research examined contemporary shifts in mobilisations of religious violence in North Indian states, and more recently, how caste practices and administrative categories shape urban precarity for migrant workers in Delhi-NCR.

She holds a Masters in Sociology from Ambedkar University Delhi and a Bachelors in Sociology from University of Delhi. Her areas of focus are urban anthropology and science and technology studies. She has been part of many interdisciplinary research projects, with academic institutions, research and advocacy groups, and nonprofits. She has also written for journalistic publications, including India Cable, The Wire and Behanbox.
