BIOGRAPHY:

Bhagyashree Paul is a Research Assistant currently working with Christophe Z Guilmoto. Her research focuses on understanding university spaces through concepts of “orientation”, “belongingness”, “capacity to work”, impact of surrounding space and institutional environment on student performance with the aim of understanding the concept of “merit” critically. She holds an MPhil degree from IIT (Bombay) on the topic “Understanding student experiences in the ‘University space’: Caste, Orientation and Belongingness”. Prior to this she has completed her Master’s degree from the Center for Informal Sector and Labour Studies, JNU, New Delhi and Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Presidency University, Kolkata. In Presidency she looked at the process of urbanisation in suburban Kolkata with a brief study of the political economy of Barrackpore cantonment and its interaction with metropolitan Kolkata. During her Masters she studied the urban village phenomenon of New Delhi with a focus on Munirka village.
