About the movie: In Bhopal, where chess is a popular pastime dominated by men, the lives of a domestic worker, a young woman in love, and a journalist are intertwined. Turup narrates their fight against communalism, casteism, and gender inequalities.
About the festival: INDIE TALKIES is a series of film projections curated by the Centre de Sciences Humaines (CSH) and hosted by Alliance Française de Delhi (AFD). Happening once a month, the lineup includes feature-length films and documentaries from across the country, showcasing a diversity of languages, formats, and aesthetic sensibilities. It aims to discuss the different financial, artistic, and political facets of independence in filmmaking.
