CSH associate researcher Shailja Tandon has co-authored an article with Santanu Pramanik and Sona Mitra titled “Women’s Employment, Well-being, and Safety in SEZs: Insights from Sri City”, published in Economic and Political Weekly on Sept 20, 2025.

Abstract: Women’s employment conditions in Sri City special economic zone are examined, exploring their implications for empowerment and well-being. Using a mixed-methods approach, a structured quantitative survey was conducted alongside qualitative interviews to capture nuanced experiences. Findings indicate that employment conditions in Sri City SEZ are notably better than in the informal sector, with improved workplace benefits and facilities. However, concerns persist regarding skill development, career progression, and structural barriers, limiting women’s mobility in the workforce.
