Anand KUMAR

Biography:
Anand Kumar is an Associate Researcher in ComTer project, WP-2 at Centre de Sciences Humaines, New Delhi. Dr. Anand earned his PhD in English from Department of English & Modern European Languages, University of Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. His Doctoral thesis critically explored politics language in Dalit representation in modern Indian writings in English and translation as well, highlighting three important nexuses of Dalit Literature – discourse of representation and question of Dalit identity, manoeuvres of Dalit Other and Dalit resistant against archetypal stereotypes. Anand did Masters in English from University of Allahabad and graduated in English from Dr. RMLA University, Faizabad, UP, India.
Previously, Anand served at G.B. Pant Social Science Institute, Jhunsi, Prayagraj (UP), India, as a Research Assistant in a major project entitled “Nationalist Visions of the Subalterns: A Study of Life and Struggles of Freedom Fighters among Schedule Castes (SC) in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh” sponsored by Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi. The area of his research interests includes Caste in India, Dalitism, Racism, Gender appropriation, Politics of language and knowledge production, Interplay of power and systemic exclusion. His commitment towards the cause of caste based discrimination and Dalits’ suffering in India is motivated by his first-hand lived experiences of caste-based discrimination and systemic marginalization. Dr. Anand is proactively engaged in research and academic activities and has published several papers and articles in reputed journals and presented multiple papers in various national and international seminars and conferences.
