Sucharita Kundu holds a master’s degree in Environmental Sciences from Amity University, Noida. She has done her Bachelor’s in Plant Biology from Maitreyi College, University of Delhi and she holds a certificate in disaster and risk management from IGNOU University.

She is a climate enthusiast and her interest lies in Air quality, climate studies, climate change, sustainability, adaptation and mitigation assessment, disaster and risk assessment.

She worked as a research intern for 8 months during her Master’s in India Meteorological Department, Ministry of Earth sciences under the guidance of Dr. Vijay Kumar Soni, Head, Environmental Monitoring and Research Centre, IMD, MoES. During this period she has learned the use of basic R software and R studio for the purpose of data analysis and making graphs and plots. Her studies include the use of ground level data and satellite data for the comparison of meteorological parameters and climatic conditions globally.

She also has analyzed the aerosol optical properties and black carbon (aerosol) over Delhi and Ranichauri, Uttarakhand from the year 2016 to 2019, and compared it with different meteorological parameters. Variations were witnessed with the help of various plots and graphs made with the help of R software.

After completing her master’s, she worked in Emergent Ventures India, Gurugram (Jul. 2019 – October 2019) as an intern. During her Internship she has identified potential climate smart and energy efficient solutions in the selected villages of Uttarakhand to reduce stress on natural ecosystems for SECURE Himalaya project in Uttarakhand led by UNDP. She did extensive secondary research about electric vehicles, green certifications ( IGBC, LEED,GRIHA) and other sustainable hotels in India and their green initiatives.
