Noëlle Counord is a Ph.D. Candidate in Anthropology at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris and attached to the Laboratoire d’Anthropologie Sociale. Noëlle is currently finishing her thesis manuscript entitled ‘Relations to the territory, ontology of dwelling and oral literature among Gujjars (Western Indian Himalayas)’. From January to July 2017, she has also worked on a specific project for the Musée du Quai Branly (funded by the Cercle Lévi-Strauss) on the relation between photography and diplomacy in the Western Himalayas during the British Period. During her stay, she has also been a Visiting Scholar at the Indian Institute of Advanced Sudies in Shimla and a student at the Landour Language School in Uttarakhand.
