BIOGRAPHY:

Hugo Dones graduated from Paris 1 Panth´eon-Sorbonne University, with a BA diploma in Philosophy and Sociology in 2021, and an MA diploma in South Asian Studies from the School for Advanced Studies in Social Sciences (EHESS) in 2023. He is now a fully-funded PhD candidate in Political Anthropology at EHESS in the CESAH (Centre d’Etudes Sud-Asiatiques et Himalayennes).

His research interests encompass social movements and activism and his dissertation project focuses on student politics in India at three different campuses in Delhi and Hyderabad. He looks at the transformation of student movements from 1936 until today, with a particular emphasis on Muslim student unions. He employs a mixed-methods approach (ethnographic and archival research) to explore the dynamics of Indian campuses.
