Abstract: Despite the expansion of the non-farm economy, high economic growth, and rapid urbanisation, the rural world and farmers continue to shape Indian society and politics as the ongoing farmers’ protests underline. Farmers are not only demanding the minimum support price but also struggling for social, economic, and environmental justice by asserting the long Indian tradition of satyagraha and civil disobedience.
