In the framework of a two-year collective research project (Oct. 2018 – Sept. 2020) between Rythu Sadhikara Samstha (RySS, Andhra Pradesh), CIRAD (France) and FAO (New Delhi) on the future of Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF) in Andhra Pradesh (retrospective path and structural transformation since the 1970s, and future scenarios up to 2050, using the model/interface Agribiom on agri-food systems), we need two Research Assistants (RAs):
(1) Research Assistant 01: Data mining/engineering, statistics, bio-economic modelling
(2) Research Assistant 02: R-Shiny specialist
Research Assistant 01: Data mining/engineering, statistics, bio-economic modelling
Major Responsibilities:
– Data mining/engineering, statistics, bio-economic modelling
– Searching, compiling, documenting and checking historical data from various fields and sources in order to build or consolidate consistent time-series on the India and Andhra agri-food economy (from population or land-use to diets and GDP).
Expected qualifications & requirements:
– Post Graduation in Management Studies / Economics / Statistics / Agriculture / Rural Development / Computer Science or any other related fields with specialization in data mining, data analysis, database management and GIS applications.
– Knowledge and experience in data harvesting and database management
– Knowledge and experience in statistical packages (Excel, Access, SAS, R, Stata…), GIS applications and computer programming
– Knowledge and experience in agriculture economics and econometrics will be a plus
– Interest in agriculture, livestock, poverty and environmental issues
– Discipline, curiosity, senses of initiative and teamwork
– Might have to travel in India for data harvesting
Work Experience:
– Minimum of 2 years’ experience in related fields is required. In exceptional cases, experience condition may be relaxed.
Research Assistant 02: R-Shiny specialist
Major responsibilities:
– Building an interface with R-Shiny for screening historical
statistics, maps and results of a bio-economic model at different scales
(India, Andhra, Districts) and in various fields (from population or
land-use to diets and GDP).
– Screening/Testing future scenarios
Expected qualifications & requirements
– Post Graduation in Management Studies / Economics / Statistics /Agriculture / Rural Development / Computer Science or any other related fields with specialization in data database management, GIS applications and R packages.
– Thorough knowledge and experience in R and R- Shiny.
– Knowledge of computer programming, usage of GIS applications,
knowledge of statistical packages such as Excel, Access, SAS, Stata.
– Knowledge and experience in agriculture economics and econometrics will be a plus
– Interest in agriculture, livestock, poverty and environmental issues
– Discipline, curiosity, senses of initiative and teamwork
Work Experience:
– Minimum of 2 years’ experience in related fields is required. In
exceptional cases, experience condition may be relaxed.
Duration of contract (for both RA 01 and RA 02)
9 months from date of appointment.
Place of Work
– RA 01: Andhra Pradesh (RySS at Guntur or Hyderabad) with travel to
Delhi and other places in India as required by the project.
– RA 02: New Delhi (CSH) with travel to A.P. and other places in India
as required by the project.
Employer (for both RA01 and RA 02)
RySS (Government of A.P.), under the scientific authority of Dr. Bruno
Dorin (CIRAD, France; CSH, New Delhi).
Remuneration
An all inclusive remuneration of Rs. 50,000.00 per month (full-time job)
for RA 01 or RA 02. Salary is negotiable in deserving cases.
