[CSH-ICAS:MP-CNRS80-IFI Exhibition] Memories of Change

Event Details

Showcasing the pamphleteer testimonies born in Indian campus spaces, the exhibition Memories of Change rejuvenates political memories of educated youth by illuminating the transformative experience of the ‘boudoir’ of post-independence India. It takes you to the student room, this repository of youthfulness, as it encapsulates an argumentative microcosm through which political desires and imaginations of India are shared.

The main installations, reconstructing hostel spaces and the politics of socialization they shelter, come to life through combining novel archival sources and oral testimonials. The vitality of these memories of change are complemented with mural creations celebrating campus politics as an arena for collective identity building. Reflecting on the political role of public universities as generational incubators, numerous historical footages immerse the visitor into the roaring turning points of India since the 1970s.
