A People’s Plan: The Chittur Thathamangalam Master Plan 2042
on
Tuesday, 17 December 2024, at 3:45 pm IST onwards
About the talk: Chittur Thathamangalam Municipality in Kerala recently published their first Master Plan 2042, which is arguably the country’s first truly participatory Master Plan. Drawing on their involvement in the preparation of this ‘People’s Plan’, as members of the municipality’s Master Plan Expert Committee over the past 3 years, the speakers will briefly outline the context and conditions within which this participatory planning process took place, the process and its participatory elements, how that contributed to the content of the Plan and the role of technical planning knowledge in this process. They will also share some key reflections towards a participatory planning in India.
