Ruchira Bhattacharya is a PhD from Centre for the Study of Regional Development, JNU, New Delhi. Her PhD was entitled “Public Distribution System and Household Welfare: A Spatial and Temporal Analysis”. She worked at CSH as a Research Assistant for the Palanpur project fro; 2012 to 2015. Her areas of interest are food security, nutrition, social transfer, equity and gender. She studied impact of food transfer programme in relation to changes in access to food grains from own land in rural agricultural households. She has briefly worked in the areas of public health focusing on HIV risk of sex workers in India and violence exposure of adolescent and young girls in African Countries. Ruchira is currently an Assistant Professor at Center for Gender Studies and Development, School of Development Studies and Justice, National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Hyderabad, India. She continues to work on her areas of interest studying socio-economic and health inequalities.
