Pronoy RAI

Pronoy Rai is a PhD candidate in geography at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the United States. Pronoy is also the Rita and Arnold Goodman Fellow with the University of Illinois’ Women and Gender in Global Perspectives program. In his dissertation, Pronoy seeks to understand the social changes engendered in rural societies as a result of circular migration of historically marginalized communities. Pronoy studies these changes in villages in the Yavatmal district of Maharashtra. At the Centre de Sciences Humaines, Pronoy is starting to analyze the data he obtained in the field during Summer 2014 and from June 2015 to January 2016. He will regularly consult with researchers associated with the ‘Politics and Society’ and ‘Economics and Development’ areas of CSH to refine and clarify the theoretical contributions of his research.
